About CMI

A Division of Control Module Inc.

Our founding

Control Module, Inc. (CMI) was founded in 1969 by James (Jim) Bianco with a vision to design and manufacture quality and innovative data collection products – in the beginning as the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) of the IBM branded data terminals, through the evolution and advancements to the current TouchTime Series time clocks that are produced today.

CMI has a proven track record of helping businesses improve operations by designing and manufacturing products that combine innovative engineering and technological advancements. CMI and Jim Bianco hold more than 100 patents, having developed technologies and products that are unrivaled in the industry.

Building on this core product, Jim has solved many complex issues with standard and unique products and solutions. Jim’s creativity and innovation has been, and is, instrumental in providing solutions on a grand scale across many markets.

Bringing Creative & Innovative Opportunities

This same creativity and innovation have brought many opportunities in unique applications in addition to the standard product offerings over the history of CMI. Some examples:

Producing a product and software for the Mexican Government Food program using the patented Securcode II masked and secure barcodes and CMI designed validation stations. This solution was used for many years to help feed the families using these government services.

Producing a tracking system for car rental companies’ vehicle management and service productivity including fuel tracking. This product is in its third-generation upgrades that have continued experiencing its benefits for now over 25 years.

Producing Electric Vehicle chargers in our EVSE division for unique applications with the patented retractable cable management feature. This is used in many applications including overhead in garages, utility pole mounted chargers and standard wall mounted units. CMI also designed power share units to eliminate the need for costly power service upgrades when using CMI chargers.

Producing time clocks with biometric readers, being the first to offer fingerprint identification in 1999. CMI was also the first in the industry to offer time clocks with direct Ethernet connection and integration of Access Control RFID badges. CMI innovation continues to bring new technology to this product and market.

Continuing the Legacy

Today there is a team of design engineers and software developers working for CMI and with Jim to continue this legacy into the future to address the many challenges that the market brings. CMI continues to develop standard products that support unique solutions to help solve complex customer and market requirements.

We aspire to be leaders in corporate sustainability.

We feel it’s an obligation – as business partners, employers, and community members.  It is our belief that creating value, jobs and strong financial results should not conflict with our ability to be a good environmental steward.  By including the concepts of sustainability up front in our strategic and product planning we can blend the ideals of environmental protection seamlessly into the pursuit of our goals.

Sustainability is an integral part of all aspects of CMI’s business model.

Reducing our environmental footprint

With sustainability as an integral part of our plan, it becomes automatic rather than forced and never becomes overlooked.  The benefits of this not only have a positive impact on the environment, but it also ensures safety, efficiency and responsibility in a manner that protects our communities and the environment, now and in the future. We strive to reduce the environmental footprint of our operations and assist others in doing the same.

One entire division/product line – EVSE, LLC is dedicated to producing premium “Electric Vehicle Service Equipment” available worldwide since 2007 to support and promote the adoption and growth of the electric vehicle market.
